– Adams retains #1 spot on official ratings
The Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) has selected a team to represent Guyana in the upcoming biennial tri nations Tournament in Trinidad and Tobago.
According to a release, the team comprises 8 players and 2 reserves and practice sessions are being held at least four times per week at the Malteenoes Sports Club and Oasis Café on Saturdays.
T&T are the defending champions, but according to GASP President Moen Gafoor, the locals stand an excellent chance this year of dethroning the hosts since all the top players have announced their availability for the tour.
Guyana will be spearheaded by 2009 World Championship representative Abigail McDonald and will also include former multiple times national champion Frederick Collins, who was voted Guyana’s MVP in the last competition, James Krakowsky, #1 rated player Ewart Adams and the other players rated that round out the top ten. The Association will be hosting its annual Fun Day today, at the Chamber of Commerce building on Waterloo Street, starting from 10:00 hrs.
Meanwhile GASP has released its official ratings after last competition which was held on January 10, 2009.
