A swashbuckling half century from Malteenoes Captain Neil Barry (51) totally eradicated the slim chances of GNIC as they romped to an easy 4 wickets win in the final of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) and Guyana Beverage Company Busta ‘Big’ Bash Second Division 20/20 Competition which ended yesterday, at the Demerara Cricket Club ground in Queenstown.
Responding to a modest 149-7 posted by GNIC, Malteenoes led by Barry, who smashed 4 fours and a similar amount of maximums off 20 balls, ended on 153-6 in 18.1 overs to claim the Busta Trophy.
Other useful scores in the Malteenoes innings came from Shaquille Williams, who belted a quick-fire 33 which included 7 boundaries and a five and Shawn Holder 20 with 2 fours and a solitary six.

Daniel Gravesande was still there at the close on 10 which included the winning boundary.
For GNIC, Ranole Bourne and Orlando Fraser each took two wickets.
Earlier, R. Bourne with 45 (3×6, 1×4), Jermaine Grovesnor 25 (2×4, 1×5) and O. Fraser 20 were the principal contributors in the GNIC innings. Edwin Burnette grabbed 4-29 off 4 overs bowling for Malteenoes.
In the first semi-finals, MSC beat GCC by 4 wickets.
GCC batted first and compiled a challenging 172-5 off the allotted 20 overs with Elon Fernandes 55 (4×4, 3×6), Ricardo Jadunauth 35 (5×4, 1×6) and Jeetendra Sukhdeo 28 (3×4, 2×6), being the principal scorers.
MSC in reply, were catapulted top victory through a crushing century from Troy Lewis (102), who hammered a stunning 12 sixes and 4 fours off a mere 47 balls.
D. Gravesande hit 38 (4×4, 2×6), while Raj Nanan took 2-21 of 4 overs.
In the other semi-final, GNIC beat Everest by 41 runs.
GNIC took first strike and made 150-7 with Ijaz Mohamed 59 (4×4, 3×6), O. Fraser 24 (3×4, 1×6) and Jason Melville 22 (4×4), the batsmen to make significant contributions.
Christopher Surat and Dennis Mangru took two wickets apiece.
In reply, Everest reached 109 all out in 16.5 overs.
Chris Patandin scored 23 and Hemraj Ramdeen 19.
Leg-spinner R. Bourne captured 5-20 off 3.5 overs, while J. Grovesnor picked up 3-24 from 3 overs.
The winning team carried away a trophy and $60,000, while the runners-up took home a trophy and $40,000.
Neil Barry, who was later, named the Man-of-the-Match walked away with a trophy and $10,000.
