Albion challenges RHT Bakewell tomorrow
An uphill battle is anticipated tomorrow at the Port Mourant Cricket ground when Albion and the Rose Hall Town Bakewell (RHTB) teams face off in the final of the 2009 Leslie Amsterdam Memorial competition.
Both teams are strong on paper and with several national players appearing on opposing ends, it would be difficult to predict a winner.
The last time the two teams clashed during the early stages of the tournament, Albion lost to RHTB on first innings after dismissing them for 81 and responding with 127 all out.
Leading RHT Bakewell is former National Under-15 player Dominic Rickey who would be supported in the batting department by the hard hitting Seon Sinclair, West Indies female player Shemaine Campbell, Shawn Perreira, Surendra Kissoonlall, Lionel Lewis, Collis Cort and Loyden Lewis.
Pacers Lionel Lewis and Keon Sinclair share the new ball with support from leg spinners Campbell and Perreira, off spinners Rickey, Loyden Lewis and Jamal Brusch.
Albion’s batting will center around Kandasammy Surujnarine, Sachin Dhaniram, David Pottaya, Wicket Keeper Andy Mohan, national Under-15 player Veerapen Permaul, Rajendra Dasrat and the solid Shailendra Hardyal who would also open the bowling for the visitor’s with their economical medium pace.
Spinners Veerapen Permaul, Gudakesh Motie Kanhai and Sharaz Ramcharran will offer support on a pitch expected to offer much assistance to the spinners.
The game starts at 09.30 hrs with each side allowed a maximum of 60 first innings overs. Son of the late Leslie Amsterdam, Adrian Amsterdam is expected to present the trophies and prizes following the conclusion of the game.
