Body found at Georgetown seawalls with throat slashed
Detectives were up to press time trying to ascertain the identity of a man who was found murdered at the Kingston seawall yesterday morning.
The unidentified body
The man is of mixed ethnicity, and is about 35 to 40 years of age. He was clad in long khaki pants, brown striped shirt and a pair of black sandals, both ears were pierced.
The body had a gaping wound to the neck and multiple chop wounds to the hands. The wounds on his hands appear to be defensive wounds. A cutlass was found a short distance away from the body.
The body was discovered by Vickecy Dover, who lives in a shack in the area, around 08:00hrs.
Dover said that he was taking his customary walks on the seawall when he saw the body lying under a coconut tree.
The man said that he quickly went to his friend’s house a short distance away and told him about what he saw. They contacted the police who arrived on the scene minutes later.
Dover explained that he did not hear nor see anything which led him to speculate that the man’s body was dumped there.
Dover was released after giving a full statement.
Police sources said that they have made checks at the Bourda and Stabroek Markets to ascertain the man’s identity. Checks were also made in Albouystown and West Ruimveldt areas, but the police did not get any favourable response.
The police further told Kaieteur News that the man’s pockets were searched which suggest that he may have been robbed and was killed in the process.
The body is presently at the Lyken Funeral Parlour. Anyone with information that may lead to the identification of the victim is asked to make contact with the police on telephone numbers 225-2227, 225-6411, 225-6940, 225-6941, 226-7065, 227-2128, 911 or the nearest police station.
