Wife’s text message may have led cop to suicide

A mysterious text message may have led to traffic cop Chaavekanand Kishore taking his own life with his service revolver.
Kishore shot himself dead on Wednesday in his wife’s apartment at the back of the Charity Hospital on the Essequibo Coast, and according to reports, the shocking incident stemmed from a text message the woman received on her cellular phone.
Kishore, 31, of Sparta, Essequibo, was attached to the Brickdam Police Station Traffic Department but was seconded to Acting Chancellor Carl Singh as a driver.
Reports reaching this newspaper stated that Kishore arrived on the Essequibo Coast last Friday to spend some time with his family.
Yesterday, he visited his wife’s apartment which is situated at the back of the hospital.
Eyewitnesses said that a single gunshot was heard and shortly after Kishore’s wife came running out of the apartment screaming out that he had shot himself.
When persons responded, they found Kishore lying on the floor with blood pouring from a wound in the region of the heart. His firearm had fallen next to his body.
His wife was taken into custody and up to press time yesterday, she was still being questioned.
Sources close to the investigation have indicated that the woman received a text message on her cell phone, while she was in the company of Kishore.
The man became annoyed and destroyed the phone by slamming it on the floor.
This reportedly led to a heated argument which ended when Kishore reportedly shot himself.
The dead man’s sister Sabrina Kishore had told this newspaper that since her brother arrived on the Essequibo Coast on Friday, he and his wife had been quarrelling all the time.
