Dear Editor,
With the recent deaths within my party and the removal of Cde Navin Chandarpal as presidential advisor, I feel compelled to write this letter.
Since my last letter to Kaieteur News on October 19, 2009, I was contacted by a senior member of the Office of the President staff who told me that in my letter I was attacking my party (the PPP).
In that letter I tried to point out that Bharrat Jagdeo was trying to silence the Jaganites and I merely asked that the Jaganites stand up and bring about real change in our party and for the Jaganites to stand up for the founding principles of our party. Is that attacking our party?
I want to renew that call today for our brothers and sisters who feel that Mr. Jagdeo and his cronnies have taken our party away from its founding principles, to stand up and be counted. Dr. Jagan and others created the PPP as a working class party, now even the sugar workers, who were the core of the party are being marginalised by this Jagdeo administration.
I am of the opinion that it is time for us in the PPP – the real Jaganites – to make our abjections be known publicly. We want answers as to why Cde. Navin Chandarpal was removed from the Office of the President.
We want to know why is it that Cde Moses Nagamootoo one of our party’s shinning stars is rotting in the back bench of Parliament, while we all know that he has a tremendous wealth of knowledge that can propel our party forward. We want to know why is it that at the last congress of our party their was a well organised campaign against Cde Ralph Ramkarran, geared at ensuring that he did not get enough votes to get into the Central Committee.
We want to know why after we voted Dr. Frank Anthony into the Central Committee he was kept out of the Executive Committee of our Party for so long. We want to know why is it that Most of those considered Jaganites are not holding any cabinet position in the Government. The time has come for us to get answers. We need answers.
And finally, commenting on the full page add that appeared in the news papers recently about the removal of Cde Navin, Mr. Donald Ramotar claimed that the authors were unknown and were not members of the PPP. This letter was written by a real member of the PPP that has been there since 1990.
