GPL’s CEO agrees to stay on to oversee critical development

The Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) says that it has asked its Chief Executive Officer, Bharat Dindyal, to stay on at the helm of the company.
GPL, in a statement, acknowledged that Dindyal had indicated his willingness to leave in July.
“He has however been persuaded to continue at the helm of the company as it executes a massive and critical development programme.”
On Monday, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds in response to questions while in Parliament, revealed that Dindyal had indicated that he wanted to leave.
Yesterday, GPL said that the executive “has indicated that he remains committed as ever to GPL’s development and that of the sector.
He has urged all staff, in an internal notice, to refocus on the important task at hand to ensure that the company is positioned to play its rightful role in national development.”
Dindyal, an experienced engineer, has been with GPL since the early part of the last decade and oversaw a number of key developmental programmes for the corporation.
