The Ashmin’s Christmas ‘Win this car’ promotion concludes today with a final draw. On January 15, next, the $2.5M Toyota car will be handed over via a game show. But the company is already thinking of Mashramani.
The 2010 Mash fever hits the store on January 15 with the launching of its Mash shop.
Shelizza Alli, the Marketing Manager said, “With the end of the “WIN THIS CAR” promotion we will be launching our Mash Shop to make Mash-related items for costumes more accessible as part of our contribution to making our 40th Republic anniversary more colourful.”
She said that the move is part of efforts by the company to assist in eradicating the hassle and frustrations associated with searching for and finding the items needed to create the kaleidoscope for mash. “For the first time ever Ashmin’s is creating a department in our store that will cater to all the needs of designers for Mashramani that will be sold in wholesale and retail quantities,” Alli said.
“We have also employed veteran costume designer Derek Moore in our Mash shop to manage and provide necessary advice to designers, costume producers and companies to raise the level of costume designing and quality for Mash 2010.
He’ll teach persons to create quality costumes at an economical cost using every day materials and garments also”.
The Mash Shop will offer costumes in parts or full, Tee-shirts, converse style canvas sneakers, hats, ladies leggings, coolers, umbrellas and appropriate boutique clothing. “This is part of our efforts to ensure that our national event gets the private boost that it should have to eventually compete with Carnival and we are opening this shop to make costume supplies readily and easily accessible at affordable costs to get all of Guyana involved in celebrating our 40th Republic anniversary Guyana”.
“In our shop we will have lots of jerseys and tights and I’m going to show what people can do with them as opposed to having to import costumes and materials,” Moore said.
He added that his task will be to create stuff to show companies how they can save but still present a true costume band and the displays will be up from January 15.
The designer said, too, that apart from the companies, individuals can come and get their unique look in outfits for Mash Day.
“I’ll let people know what they can mix and match from right in the store to create their unique look for Mash Day.” (Mondale Smith)
