A man is now thanking God for life after he was shot once by bandits during a robbery around 19:45hrs last night at the corner of Camp Street and South Road, outside the Demerara Bank.
Marlon Mathias, 32, of 225 Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara was shot once, but received three wounds. Information reaching Kaieteur News revealed that the single gunshot grazed the man’s abdomen and hip and is apparently lodged in his thigh.
According to reports, Mathias was at the corner of Camp Street and South Road waiting for a minibus when three men approached him with a view to robbing him.
He said that after taking his gold chain worth over $400,000, one of the men whipped out a gun and fired two shots injuring him.
According to the police investigators at the hospital it was not clear if the bullet remains lodged in his thigh or if it had exited.
However Mathias’s condition was confirmed as stable. The victim has been admitted to the male surgical ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital..
