Albouystown Old Year’s Day murder…
The father of the men in police custody who were held for the Old Year’s Day killing of 23-year-old, Wendell Tappin of Albouystown is fearful for his life as well as those of his family.
Leonard Allicock, a father of 18, of James Street Albouystown said his brother and three sons are in police custody pending investigation for the killing of Wendell Tappin.
He further stated that his other son Steve Allicock was forced to move from his house in Hill Street Albouystown because gunmen visited his home on Old Year’s Night, hours after the killing.
A tenant of the yard where steve allicock lives, who wanted to remain anonymous told this newspaper that at about 3:30am Old Year’s Night, he heard a strange noise in the yard that awakened him.
Upon peering through a window, he saw three masked men in dark- coloured clothing with handguns heading toward Steve Allicock’s house.
The tenant explained that since Old Year’s Night strange persons have been visiting the yard, and he noticed that it could not have been police, since they violently broke into Steve Allicock home Sunday night.
He added that another neighbour had opened her window and saw the gunmen and her behaviour caused them to leave hurriedly.
“They (Tappin Brothers) said that after the funeral this Wednesday they would launch an attack to kill or kidnap one of my children, my whole family is separated and fearful” said Leonard Allicock.
He said his son and the deceased are not friends and the story printed in yesterday’s newspapers of Wendell Tappin going to receive his phone from his son, seems strange.
He explained that the gunmen are suspected to be the brothers of the deceased and he does not know what transpired on Old Year’s Day, adding that whatever happened, should be handled by the law.
According to a resident of the area the gunmen were travelling in a white tinted car with fake number plates.
Wendell Tapping 23 of 88 James Street Albouystown was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Old Year’s Day where he was pronounced dead following an altercation in Albouystown where he was stabbed and chopped about the body.
