The Guyana Floodlight teams who are preparing to go to the USA in February 2010 for the Florida Cup Tournament has just concluded three softball practice matches played on the last three Sundays at the DCC Ground in Queenstown, Georgetown.
East Coast won the first match and Georgetown the second. Last Sunday which was the final of the series which saw Georgetown Floodlights batting first and making a challenging 228 for 5 in their allotted 25 overs.
Richard Persaud top scored with a brilliant 86 and Wayne Jones 54 not out. Doodnauth Sookram was the best bowler for East Coast taking 2 wickets for 39 runs and Dru Bahadur 1 wicket for 15 runs.
East Coast replying was on to a flying start with Ishwar Persaud hitting 61 and Rajendra Singh 22. They were however restricted to 145 all out due to good bowling from Rahaman Khan 2 for 36 off 5 overs, Petamber Maharaj returning to form with 2 wickets for 1 run.
All three games were sponsored by Danny Auto Sales of Railway Line, Ogle and Ramjewan Auto and General Store of Industry Road.
The Floodlight teams will play five more practice matches early next year before they head for the Florida Cup Tournament which will be played on the February 12, 13 and 14.
