Reports that several Government facilities were without guards of R.K.’s Security Services during recent checks are untrue, the company says.
In statement condemning the Kaieteur News story that was confirmed by officials of regional administrations, owner Roshan Khan said that the newspaper allowed itself to be abused by “nefarious and dangerous people who wish to have their way.”
“According to our manager, Mr. Barry, all locations in Region Five were covered, except for the absentees one would have and expect at holiday time in any security service. Every security service expects some of this.”
The news article had said eight facilities were without guard when checks were made by Strategic Action Security Services.
According to Khan, Strategic Action controls about four sites in Region Four where management of that company are trained to “use violence against us and due to the court’s order we cannot expel them.”
In November, Government awarded security contracts to R.K.’s Security in Region Two, Three, Four, Five and Six- regions that were covered by Strategic Action.
That company has since filed an injunction barring R.K. Security from removing its workers from sites since it say that its contract with the government is still in force.
“We have sworn affidavits by some ranks who said they were promised by Strategic to be paid whether they work or not in November and December, but they were never paid beyond the 15th, despite their loyalty…many poor people were fooled and came crying in our office, apologizing and asking for re-employment. I dare Kaieteur News to come and look for itself and see the truth.”
According to the company, it is fully computerized, justifying and paying NIS and GRA properly and promptly.
“Each site has a daily time sheet which has to be signed by the rank and inputted into the computer. If people are paid in advance how are we to know they will come out any of the following nights?”
According to Khan, the Region Two Administration has not withheld any money. “We have an arrangement if there are shortcomings for whatever, all regions will deduct with mutual understanding and discussions or we will cut a check out for them, and not as a punitive measure.
The regions all have their internal security network which works in tandem with ours to protect the assets of the peoples of this country.”
Alluding to the current injunction, R.K.’s Security said that no contractor has the right to disrespect the Tender Board, the Cabinet, Ministry of Local Government.
“No contractor should expect that any government or its regional administration will weaken in view of conspiracy to destroy and disaffect. RK’S Security, nor the government, nor the regions are weaklings, and together we shall stand, and the mischievous ones will lose.”
