An elderly resident of Triumph, East Coast Demerara, got a shock when she went to dispose of the contents of her bed pan only to discover the body of a man hanging from a rope under an unfinished house at the back of her yard.
The discovery was made at around 04:30 hours.
The man turned out to be 31-year old Khemraj Persaud,called Ravi, a labourer of 102 Martyrsville, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara. Kaieteur News understands that Persaud left his home late last night following a quarrel with his relatives and went to the unfinished wooden building about a mile away and ended his life.
The elderly woman, who made the discovery, told this newspaper that Persaud would normally visit the yard, since he shared an acquaintance with her son.
She said that she saw him some time on Monday afternoon and he was heavily intoxicated.
The woman was shocked when she got up yesterday to empty her bedpan only to see Persaud dangling from a rope. The police were summoned and investigations commenced.
Relatives of the dead man said that he went home on Monday evening and was engaged in an argument with family members.
He then left and the next time they saw him he was dead. Persaud leaves to mourn his wife and three children.
