Dear Editor,
Freddie Kissoon says he doesn’t understand why Prem Misir and Randy Persaud accept
Kaieteur News as a newspaper when their boss, President Jagdeo wants it to cease publication. The answer is they don’t and they too wish it would cease publication.
As long as the independent dailies exist these men will be forced to use the letter writing pages to spread their propaganda.
The Chronicle has no readership. No Guyanese respected for his or her impartiality sends any letters to that paper for publication on a regular basis. If they did they would be published daily, it would give that paper legitimacy!
If the independent dailies were to cease publication these men would have a captive audience at the Chronicle as the public might be forced to read it.
Their jobs would be a lot easier. They could pursue their dog and pony show with their facts and figures while censoring every letter that is critical of the Jagdeo administration.
These men serve their boss with absolute loyalty because they owe their success to him.
If they can’t do what he wants why would he retain them?
As William Shakespeare said, “such is the power of kings!” I seriously doubt if they would even live in Guyana if they were not hired to serve Jagdeo.
It is not a question of morality for them. They are not motivated by some profound objective desire for an inclusive and free Guyana. They are simply pursuing their own personal ambitions.
