Led by another brilliant performance by West Indies all-rounder Shemaine Campbell, Berbice Female cricket champions Rose Hall Town Metro (RHTM) crushed Georgetown by 109 runs to book a place in the finals of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) organised national female tournament.
Campbell hit an even 50 when RHTM batted first and returned with the ball to snare 3-12 with her leg spin.
RHTM’s opening pair of Campbell and Melanie Henry for the second consecutive match posted a century stand for the first wicket. The partnership was worth 142 runs in 24 overs before Campbell was stumped off Lashana Toussaint for 50 (3×4). Henry was caught off Onika Wallerson for a well played 45 (4×4) with the score on 146 in the 26th over.
Rose Hall Town Metro then lost the inform Tessa Park for 5 and West Indies all rounder Erva Giddings (03) to Wallerson to be 156-4. Olive Tello and national Under-19 player Jacquelin Singh played well to add 62 for the fourth wicket in 11 overs as RHTM ended on 216-4. Tello ended on 33* (4×4) and Singh 20 (2×4).
Bowling for Georgetown who gave away a healthy 60 extras, Wallerson took 3-40. In response, the City team never looked like challenging the home team’s total and were bundled out for 112 in 35.3 overs.
Only Akaze Thompson (20) Lashana Toussaint (16) and Wallerson 13 reached double figures. Bowling for the winners, West Indies pacer Erva Giddings took 4-15 off 7 overs, Campbell 3-12 off 5.3, Teneisha Leonard 2-5 and left arm spinner Nikita Toney 1-15.
Rose Hall Town Metro the only club team playing in the competition would now await the winner of the second semi final between East Coast and Essequibo.
