Spreading joy and honouring mothers who gave birth on Christmas Day has been an Ansa McAL Trading Limited tradition and the cheers were no less for the 11th year when the company distributed Cheekies hampers at various hospitals around Georgetown.
Over the years, distribution of hampers of “Cheekies diapers” was done at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, Davis Memorial, Woodlands, St Joseph Mercy and Medical Arts.
Brands Manager of Ansa McAL Trading Limited, Marco Kreuter, expressed pleasure at helping the mothers and said that his company will continue this venture in 2010 and beyond.
This year, two hospitals were visited; the GPHC where there were eight newborn babies at the time of distribution and at Medical Arts where just one was born.
The first baby, a boy, was born to 23-year-old Jewel Bacchus of East Ruimveldt at 01:30hrs on Christmas Day at GPHC and for the first time since ANSA McAL Trading Limited has been doing this, a father was present.
At Medical Arts Hospital a lone girl was born to Bonita Fernandes, 26, of Success, East Coast Demerara at 8:40hrs.
Ansa McAL Trading Limited also showed appreciation to the staff of these public and private hospitals for supporting their initiative over the years by presenting them with gifts.
Last Christmas, 10 mothers were the recipients of ‘Cheekies Bundle of Joy’ hampers.
All of these mothers were also recipients of hampers from Teddies on Christmas day.
