NEW AMSTERDAM, BERBICE – The Office of the President through the Region Six Administration hosted three Christmas parties for children in East Berbice/Corentyne.
The venues were the Berbice High School and Tain and Corriverton Primary Schools. A total of 2,000 young ones were given packages for the Season and enjoyed hours of fun filled activities.
In delivering the speech on behalf of His Excellency President Bharrat Jagdeo, Region Six Chairman, Zulfikar Mustapha, told the children of steps taken by Government to ensure a brighter future for children.
Following the parties, the children at the Alpha Home at Gay Park, Canaan Home at Port Mourant and the Camal Home for the Homeless were given their share of presents.
The President’s Annual Children’s Party began in 1998 and is held in several locations across Guyana. This year President Bharrat Jagdeo was unable to attend due to another commitment.
