The families of policemen who were killed in the line of duty were remembered by the Guyana Police Force on Christmas Day.
As part of its activities during this festive season, the Force presented hampers to the relatives of those ranks, most of whom were killed in the brutal crime wave between 2002 to 2005.
This is an annual activity of the Force in recognition of the contributions made by the slain ranks and aimed at assisting to bring Christmas cheer to their families.
Leading in the distribution of the hampers was Commissioner of Police Henry Greene who delivered hampers to the relatives of the late Detective Lance Corporal 16987 Adrian London and Constable 18271 Feroze Bashier.
London, who was once the force’s Best Cop, was slain outside a popular bar on D’Urban Street, Lodge on July 11, 2002.
Bashier was gunned down while sitting on his motorcycle in the village of Buxton, East Coast Demerara, on August 27, 2007.
The hampers were received by Mr. Pryor London, father of the late Lance Corporal London; and Felicia Bashier, daughter of the late Constable Bashier.
Mr. Pryor London was also a member of the Tactical Services Unit of the Guyana Police Force who came off during 1983.
Police Divisional Commanders also personally delivered hampers to other relatives of slain ranks residing in their respective Divisions.
