Guyana playing without seasoned veterans, Captain Lugard Mohan, Orin Mohan, Rawlwin Loncke, Lancelot Loncke, experienced forward Robert Cadogan and the temperamental Eion Leitch, humbled a strong Barbados line up 2-1 in a goodwill three (Test) International Series June 1997 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Coach Bernard Daniels and his assistant Phillip George had no choice but to introduce rookies Floyd Manifold, Floyd Gittens, Marvin Franklyn and Barney Prescott, but it was the experience trio Co-Captains Remington Ram, Lorenzo Withrite and Dane Kendall who led them to a hard fought 89 to 84 points victory in game one.
Remington Ram scored 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Withrite had 19 points and 13 rebounds and Dane Kendall 15 points and nine boards. Bruce Davis supported the trio with 11 points for Barbados. London Based Pro skipper Nigel Lloyd had 15 points, Ryan Holford contributed 11 points.
In game two Guyana took an unbeaten lead with a commanding 61 to 56 points victory. Dane Kendall and Co-Captain Remington Ram top scored with 19 points each, while for Barbados, Victor Payne scored 16 points.
Guyana looking for a clean sweep in game three suffered an embarrassing loss 91 to 54 points.
Nigel Lloyd led Barbados with 20 points; Clarence Bennett playing his first game for Guyana scored 17 points.
