The Christmas season certainly brings out the spirit of love and giving. It also brings into sharper focus the plight of the less fortunate who have given their best years in defense of the freedoms fought for by our fore parents.
Dr. Van West Charles makes a donation to the cause of the less fortunate veterans in the presence of persons at a special luncheon
Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) George Gomes and team took time out to care for former soldiers incapacitated in one way or another after retirement. He organised a special luncheon for the festive season.
The luncheon is a small part of the work being done to aid the veterans and senior citizens as they deal with ailments and sicknesses such as blindness, paralysis and diabetes.
While some opine that this should be a national effort they asked for the support to continue. At the luncheon, Dr. Richard Van West Charles donated $340,000 to Lt. Col Gomes to support this worthy cause.
Over the past month, Dr. Van West Charles, Aubrey Norton and others visited many disadvantaged communities to distribute food hampers, toys and clothing.
They believe that the season for giving must extend beyond the Christmas season and they urged everyone to contribute in any way possible.
