A woman was yesterday remanded by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on a charge of wounding with intent to murder.
Onica Kemraj, of Itaballi, in the Mazuruni area, on December 21 at her Itaballi home, allegedly with intent to commit a murder, wounded her reputed husband Gregory King. She was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
She claims that she was a victim of domestic violence at the hands of King and all she did was stand up for herself.
She also claims that she took King to the hospital after the incident and has been co-operating with the police.
Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford objected to bail and stated that on the day in question the accused stabbed King in the vicinity of his heart.
Magistrate Robertson then remanded the accused and she is expected to return to court on January 16.
