Yesterday morning ranks from three patrol vehicles descended on a grey car and arrested the lone occupant after roughing him up.
Eyewitnesses in North East la Penitence said that the man was dealt a fleet of blows in and out of the car. So angry were some of the arresting ranks that one fell down while sharing the blows.
Eventually when the man was made to exit the car he was made to lie flat on the road before being transferred face down to the floor of one of the police vehicles.
No one knows what the man’s crime was but some said they heard police ranks saying that the he was wanted for allegedly hijacking a car. Others said that he was driving a stolen car and attempted to flee when he saw the police patrol. They said that he was cornered in East La Penitence after a high speed chase that left the police angry.
Some residents said that the man called Rasta Gordon once resided in the area but had moved out some time ago.
“Boy whatever he do, he had to be a real wanted man because I never see so much police with guns at a scene yet. And if you see how they drag he out the car and beat he before they carry he away,” one witness said.
Up to press time the Police Public Relations Department had no information on the incident. Several said they had seen the man driving around the area in the same car in which he was arrested. They also described him as being of a mentally ill man.
