A Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara man was killed at around 22:30 hrs last night after the car he was driving slammed headlong into a pickup at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop.
The victim, Alwyn Jordan, whose age was not given, sustained multiple injuries and succumbed at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
Jordan was reportedly heading to Parika while the pickup, which was reportedly being driven by a woman, was heading to Vreed-en-Hoop when the collision occurred.
It is unclear what caused the crash.
At the scene of the crash, Kaieteur News observed that Jordan’s car, PJJ 6760, with the words “In God I trust”, had suffered extensive damage to the front. The pickup, PLL 2473, only sustained minor damage.
Jordan’s son and other relatives were at the West Demerara Regional Hospital, but were too distraught to speak to this newspaper.
