– police suspect murder
Police in Essequibo are looking for a male suspect following the discovery of the body of 50- year-old Patricia Williams, at a place called Fowl Mouth, Essequibo River, on Monday night.
Williams’s body was discovered by a relative who had first seen her boat drifting unattended in the river.
Police in a press release stated that Williams was a Boat Service Operator
Initial investigations revealed that Williams had transported a group of men from Bartica to Fowl Mouth.
The man for whom the police are looking was the last passenger to be put off.
About 23:30 hours on Monday a relative subsequently saw her boat drifting, and after a search, found her body partly in the river.
It is not clear how Williams was killed but residents in the area believe that she was sexually assaulted.
Police say efforts are being made to transport the body to Georgetown where a post mortem examination will be done.
