With the Christmas season already here, there are mixed reactions amongst vendors concerning sales around this time of the year. Many are complaining that current sales are far below what they achieved last year.
But on the other hand a few are saying that they have been seeing favourable sales.
However, many expressed dissatisfaction when comparing this year sales as opposed to last year. However, they are all optimistic that business will improve with Christmas drawing closer.
With the exception of Christopher David a household items vendor, who opined that business for him is better than that of last year, the vendors all complain that customers are only stopping to look but not purchasing any of their items.
According to one of the vendors this business setback may be as a result of the financial difficulties the Guyanese are now experiencing, which is not allowing them to have the usual spending power.
The vendors were up in arms with the authorities for allowing foreigners to invade the country selling inferior products at a much cheaper price.
This, the vendors say, places them at a great disadvantage, since the buying public gravitate to these so call cheap stores.
