Ready to dish the vibes in Guyana: De Hunter, Kevin Lyttle, Denise Belfon, Ghetto Flex and Jamesy P. Missing is Terry Gajraj. Sitting are promoter Kenston Harry, left, and ‘D’ Hitman
Soca and Chutney fans are in for three nights of international entertainment, starting tonight, when the mega Chutney versus Soca super show hits the local shores for a weekend tour.
Promoted by Bigger & Better Entertainment productions, a Guyanese-owned United States based company, the show, according to promoters Sharon Dilchand and Kenston Harry, aims to add to the entertainment offerings for the festive season while creating an atmosphere to further foster the unity that Christmas brings amongst all Guyanese, Caribbean-style.
Six of the seven international artistes have arrived – Jamesy P of ‘Nookie tonight’ fame, Kevin ‘Turn me on’ Lyttle, Ghetto Flex, and soca sensation Denise ‘Saucy Wow’ Belfon as well as chutney stars De Hunter and D Hitman – and are ready to entertain local fans. Terry ‘Guyana Baboo’ Gajraj is scheduled to touch down today to add his chutney fire to the show.
The local lineup includes reigning Soca Monarch Shelly G as well as the Sugarcake girls lead singer Fiona. The first show is slated for tonight at the Bath Settlement ground, while tomorrow night the gang heads to the Albion Community Centre Ground to spice up fans in that area.
The final show is slated for December 20 at the Uitvlugt Community Centre Ground and tickets are going at a cost of $5000 for VIP and $1000 for regular tickets in advance.
Last night the artistes were guests at a VIP Party at Club Cloud 9, Regent and Albert Streets.
Yesterday they appeared on HJTV Channel 72 where they dished some of the vibes that should make for three quality shows.
Promoter Sharon Sohodra Dilchand hails from Fyrish, Albion, but migrated to the US while Kenston Harry was born in Haslington, East Coast Demerara.
He also migrated to the US. Sharon and Kenston became partners and formed B & B Entertainment, a production company originating in Hartford, Connecticut.
The duo has successfully promoted numerous shows in the USA that featured artistes the likes of Jamesy P. (Nookie Man), Adrian Dutchin, Sean Kingston, Baby Cham and Beres Hammond among others.
