Entries for the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club Boxing Day Horse race meeting will close on Saturday and all horse owners and trainees are urged to enter their horses on or before the due date since no late entries will be allowed.
A large number of corporate entities and individuals have come on board to assist the club in the 2009 event where most of the countries top horses Irish Gel, Sweet Romance, World Class, Zenyatta and Miss Washington are expected to compete.
The Kharaj family of New York sponsors the feature race for the C and Lower class over one mile for the Deo Kharag Memorial stakes and trophy.
First place takes home a whopping $1,000,000 and the Deo Kharaj Memorial trophy as second place receives $500,000, third place $250,000 and fourth $125,000.
Digicel’s sponsorship covers the race for the two-year old horses together with Mohamed Enterprise and Ariel Enterprises Republic Bank, Peter P-Imports and Exports and Metro are sponsors for the race for three-year old horses.
DDL sponsors the race for ‘F’class horses where P&P Insurance Brokers, Farm Supplies Ltd and Munesheres Ltd handle the race for horses classified 13 & Lower.
Pharmagen Enterprises, Modern Industries Ltd, General Equipment Ltd, Denmore Garment Manufacturers Inc. Kharaj and Company along with businessmen Maurice Sookhoo, Kissoon Dyal have all assisted with the race for Division 2 & 3 (K&L) horses.
