Dec 16, 2009 Letters
Dear Editor,
Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan in Kaieteur News of Monday, December 14th, 2009, under the caption, GuySuCo’s CEO salary outrageous – AFC,” was quoted as saying, “Workers should demand information as to the privileges and perks of the Chairman, Dr. Nanda Gopaul and other members of the board.”
This note is just to inform him and those who might be interested that I have never charged or collected one cent from GuySuCo since assuming the role as Chairman of that entity for my almost full time services.
I have also not collected any Director fees nor claim for any expenses while travelling the various estates’ locations since I have been conscious of the financial situation of the industry and was prepared to make that sacrifice and lead by example.
I indicated this position to the Finance Director and CEO and would be prepared to continue to make sacrifices and work with my colleagues, the workers and unions to ensure the complete turn around of the industry to profitability.
This will happen in due course, not overnight as many expect.
Dr N. K. Gopaul
