Dear Editor,
I cannot refrain from writing this short note to say how grieved I was to hear of the death of our Minister within the Ministry of Education, Dr Desrey Fox.
It is indeed a terrible grief that has come upon all Guyanese, especially her children and close relatives.
I can vividly recalled how happy everyone was when Dr. Desrey Fox joined the Ministry of Education in 2006 with a widespread and inspiring milieu in education, having dedicated her life to the field and shared the broad vision espoused by the Minister of Education, Mr. Shaik Baksh.
I know her challenges must have been numerous being assure that her children can attest to this fact, but never the less it is evident today that she has fought a good fight.
I, therefore, would like to use this opportunity to encourage those that are left behind to at least attempt to endeavour to follow or continue from where our dear Minister, daughter, mentor and mother has left off.
I, therefore, would like to offer a word of encouragement to all that mourn the death of another stalwart figure that has served her Ministry and her country well. If I could say anything to comfort all that lament her passing.
I want to assure every such person that though it is such a dreadful sorrow for our country I am sure all of us will be sustained in this hour of trial by Him who sustains us all.
To her dear children, you have my sincere and deepest sympathy. In time you will come to realise the universal love that shines through all human events.
