Bartician Andrew Wong put in a brave performance to upstage all the other riders in the second round of the First Gear Promotions Grass Track Motor Racing Championship which was held, at the Goed Fortuin Community Centre ground recently.
Wong, who had made two visits to the doctor after complaining about a sprained knee and vomiting, returned to ride as though he was possessed, claiming a second place and three firsts in an impressive display.
He lost the first race to Andy Rajkarran by half of a tyre, but returned in the next three pro races to dominate proceedings.
Andy Rajkarran rode with guts and determination to fend of the imminent challenge from Wong to win the open race of the day, while Charlie Henry and Dave Gangadin rode with little success.
In the novices’ category, Junior Da Silva continued his impressive stint, brushing aside his opponents in all three of his races, gaining the top positions, and remains unchallenged at the top of the table.
DaSilva’s younger brother Jerry, also produced a notable performance, taking a second, third and a fourth place finish. Vikash Jaigobind registered one second and a third, while Rajkarran got a second and a fourth.
In the Chappy Category, Zalim Mohamed remained on top of the points table with 37 points and he is followed by Satesh Singh on 19 and Reza Mohamed and Javied alli on ten points each.
According to the Organisers, the 2009 segment of the series is completed and it would recommence in 2010. The Organisers expressed thanks to Carib Beer, Candy Corner, Trophy Stall, Sankar’s Auto Colour for their patronage.
