Eddie Grant sends message to King Pele
The 'King of football' flanked by two young fans, enjoys steel pan music on his arrival in Guyana. Several football officials including GFF boss Colin Klass (to Pele's right) and Kashif Muhammad (to Pele's left) and Sports Minister Dr. Frank Anthony (right) were part of the welcoming party.
Guyanese International Superstar Eddy Grant, who is on his European Tour with UB 40, has sent a live Video message from Liverpool in England to his iconic football hero, Edson Arantes Do Nascimento (King Pele).
His Worship Mayor Hamilton Green welcomed the Brazilian Football National hero to Guyana at a Civic Reception at City Hall yesterday.
Grant, who as a youngster in England played a lot of football, always thought he was Pele and so did the other West Indians and Africans in England.
Grant was so upset when he heard his Hero was visiting Guyana at the same time that he is on his 2009 European tour.
Grant wishes his icon, Pele, a pleasant stay in Guyana and hopes that one day they will both meet here in Guyana or in Brazil. He also wishes Pele and his family all the best for the holiday season.
Grant will head home to Barbados for the holiday season on Christmas Eve.
