Titan Entertainment hosted a public meeting for Grass Track riders Wednesday night that was aimed at apprising them of the new developments ahead of the Second Race Meeting in the Company’s three-race Championship Series.
The second competition is billed for December 20 at the Port Mourant Race Track, and has become costmary for the host, Titan Entertainment, a meeting was held with all riders to bring them up to speed with various elements.
The First Race of the Championship Series that proved to be a tremendous success was at the Kayman Sankar Ground at Hampton Court, Essequibo Coast on November 29, where thousands turned out to witness the thrills and spills.
The Entertainment Company is hoping for a similar response in Berbice and is making all effort to ensure that all the systems are in place. Riders were updated on the progress that has been made in that regard for Port Mourant.
Titan’s Sheik Yaseen informed that it is the first time that Grass Track or Dirt Bike races will be held on the Port Mourant track, and as a result there was a lot of work put into the facility to make it appropriate for that type of event.
The Port Mourant track usually host Horse Racing, but Titan will transform the inner part of the facility into a Grass Track Racing circuit with seating and other spectator facilities also part of the general arrangement for December 20.
“We will actually be building a track on the inside for Grass Track racing,” Yaseen stated while adding that the plan is to make certain aspects of their idea permanent. Titan visited the facility several times to ascertain necessary support.
The race meeting is scheduled to commence at 12noon with professional riders pocketing $10,000 for every first place finish, $7,000 for second and $4,000 for third. Novices Riders will get $7,000, $5,000 and $3,000 respectively.
Titan has confirmed the participation of Andy Rajkarran, Vassy Barry, Stephen Vieira, Charlie Henry, Daniel Ali, Alvin Balgobin, Terry Da Silva and Team Bartica in the Pros’ competition for the upcoming Port Mourant meeting.
It was disclosed that Rajkarran currently heads the Pros’ Points Table after the Hampton Court meeting with 32 points while Henry closely follows with 28 points. Andy Wong is in third with a total of 14 points from that event.
Junior Da Silva sits on top the Novices’ Table with 32 points with Vikash Ramcoomar in second with 24 points and Raj Rajkarran third with 11 points. Peter Tulsie is fourth in the Novices contest heading into Race Two next Sunday.
