At a presentation yesterday afternoon at the Palms Geriatric Home, the Assistant Manager for E-Networks Inc., Maurice Robello, handed over the company’s donation of free digital television service, including the installation of several receivers within each of the wards.
Managing Director Vishook Persaud, who spoke briefly to the press before the presentation, explained how the initiative came into being.
“One day I was passing at the Palms and I thought that the patients must be bored because of the limited stations they have,” Persaud said.
He expressed hope that the residents could experience even greater entertainment and keep updated with the international news from the many channels that they offer.
The total value for the donation is approximately $300,000.
E-Networks Inc. is the pioneer of Digital IPTV services in Guyana. Presently the company is offering 36 channels and come next week an additional 12 channels would be offered for the same monthly price of $5000. Persaud said that the package would offer the best combination of children programs, premium movie channels, education, international and financial programming that is available.
The manager noted that since the introduction of the IPTV service in Guyana by E-Networks it is affordable for the average Guyanese, to have the opportunity of being connected to the world with premium television services in the convenience of their homes.
The company also provides free internet access to St Joseph High School and Queen’s College.
