– Keenly contested matches anticipated
The country’s leading tennis players will commence battle from today in the season ending Tropical Mist Banks Masters Tournament which is being played, at the Pegasus Hotel Hardcourts.
The top four players will engage each other in eight (8) categories for the right to be crowned champions of their respective divisions.
Among those who’ve confirmed participation are defending Men’s and Women’s champions Phillip Squires and Carol Humphrey along with junior champions Anthony Downes and Shawna Gentle and they will be joined by players the calibre of Shelly Daly-Ramdyhan, Ezra Sue-Ho, Jeremy Miller, Geraldo Alphonso, Aruna Ramrattan, Krystal Sukra and Leyland Leacock.
The players called in the various categories are: Girls 14 and under- 1.Krystal Sukra, 2. Tania Niamatali, 3. Nicola Ramdyhan and 4. Tamera Chester. Areta Dey is the alternate; Boys 14 and under- 1. Gavin Lewis, 2. Daniel Lopes, 3. Seanden David Longe and 4. Brian Ramsudh. Khalif Gobin and Benedict Sukra are the alternates; Girls 18 and under- 1. Shawna Gentle, 2. Aruna Ramrattan, 3. K. Sukra and 4. T. Niamatali. Nadia Cox and Stephenie Brassington are the alternates; Boys 18 and under- 1. Jeremy Miller, 2. Anthony Downes, 3. Jonathan Antzcak and Geraldo Alphonso. Seanden David Longe and Saevion David Longe are the alternates; Ladies Open- 1. Carol Humphrey, 2. Shelly Daly-Ramdyhan, 3. S. Gentle and 4. A.Ramrattan. Grace McCalman is the alternate; Men’s Open- 1. Phillip Squires, 2. Ezra Sue-Ho, 3. A. Downes and 4. Leyland Leacock. J. Miller and Rudy Grant are the alternates; Mixed Doubles- 1. E. Sue-Ho / S. Gentle, 2. P. Squires / A. Ramrattan, 3. Godfrey Lowden / C. Humphrey and 4. Javed Khan / G. McCalman; Men’s Doubles- P. Squires / G. Lowden, 2. L. Leacock / E. Sue-Ho, 3. J. Miller / J. Antzcak and 4. A. Downes / G. Alphonso. Gilbert Barckoy / Tony Ameerally are the alternate. The tournament is expected to serve off at 18:00 hrs.
