Secretary General of the Guyana Red Cross Dorothy Fraser thanks the Diplomatic Corps for their donation
Surinamese Ambassador and Dean of the Diplomatic Corp Manorma Soeknandan, made the presentation and spoke of the Diplomatic Corps’ desire to assist the home. International Development Bank (IDB) Country Representative Marco Nicola; Pan-American Health Organisation (PAHO) Country Representative, Dr. Kathleen Israel; and Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Zhang Jungao were also present at the presentation.
Secretary General of the Guyana Red Cross Dorothy Fraser received the donation on behalf of the Convalescent Home, and sincerely thanked the diplomatic corps for taking such an interest in the children’s home.
Fraser told media operatives that the Corps has made similar donations in previous years, and has therefore contributed to the children’s home greatly.
Twenty-nine children are currently cared for at the home, a majority of which are under the age 10.
The 22 member staffed institution can care for up 30 children, but have found in recent years the necessity to take on more. Fraser also praised the help the children’s home receives from the Davis Memorial Hospital and the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC).
