One day after Police Officers on the Essequibo Coast apprehended three suspects, including a Guyana Defence Force Lance Corporal, in connection with a series of break-ins and robberies, on the Coast, bandits have again staged another robbery.
This time the victim is Paramsuka Toolsie, of Taymouth Manor Village, Essequibo Coast.
At the time of the robbery Toolsie and his family were asleep.
The Toolsies estimated their losses of cash, jewelery and phone cards into the millions.
A traumatized Mr. Toolsie said that he was made aware of the robbery, some time after 4:30 a.m. yesterday morning. His wife, Sunita, awakened and ventured downstairs into the kitchen, where she noticed her backdoor ajar.
He said immediately his wife ran back upstairs and related her findings to him.
According to Mr. Toolsie, he and his wife subsequently returned downstairs and furthered observed one of his windows broken. He concluded that the bandits gained entry to his home through that window.
He said a chair was also found outside of the house, positioned below the broken window.
Mr. Toolsie said that missing from two bedrooms and the shop drawers were $1 million and $30,000 respectively. The monies were concealed in bags.
Some $100,000 worth of Digicel and GTT phone cards, plus $1.5 million worth in jewelery were also missing.
Vishaul Toolise, one of the victims’ sons, also claimed losses of an undisclosed amount in cash. The Toolsies recently relocated to their new home at Taymouth Manor. They had lived before at neighbouring Three Friends.
The Police were prompt in their response and are continuing in their investigation.
Mr. Toolsie also noted that upon their escape the bandits left a hammer and trail of footprints that were visible on a counter, leading into his shop.
