Dear Editor,
I am not too clear whether it’s the National Accreditation Council Guyana (NACG) or the Ministry of Health.
I recently took my daughter to register at a nursing school and remembering what took place last year with a nursing school.
As a precaution I checked with the National Accreditation Council Guyana (NACG) to check where I should go to find out if the school I intended my daughter attend was registered.
I was told that the said private nursing school was registered and given information that all certificates issued by that school will be accepted at any hospital in Guyana.
I was led to believe that the Ministry of Health was responsible for the registration of these private schools. Despite the assurance from the NACG, I am still not certain who is really responsible. I would be happy if the relevant authority could clear up this issue for me.
My daughter intends to migrate, but before she does so, she wants to equip herself in nursing, and prefer a private school, because with the government schools, she will have to sign a contract to serve in Guyana for a specified period.
