A fine half century by left handed opener Shamsudeen Mohamed enabled Good Success to overcome Sans Souci Jaguars by 1 wicket in the second semi-final of the Busta 40 overs cricket competition played last Sunday at the Wakenaam Community Center Ground in Good Success.
Good Success won the toss and asked Jaguars to bat first in front of a fair sized crowd. In a game which was reduced to 32 overs due to early morning showers, Jaguars rattled up a respectable 185 – 8 off their allotted overs.
Opener Charles Benjamin was their leading run getter with 67 (5×4,5×6) while Javed Khan chipped in with 25 (4×4) not out towards the end.
Left arm spinner Imran Khan grabbed 3-33 and Nazeer Mohamed took 2-20.
Good Success in reply encountered some nervous moments before they eventually won the game in 29 overs ending on 189 for 9.
Shamsudeen Mohamed top scored with 65 which included four fours and five sixes, while Komal Persaud supported with 27 (2×4) and Nazeer Mohamed an unbeaten 21 (3×4).
Offspinner Imran Mohamed captured 4-30 while Nokta Moses and Moin Khan took two wickets each for the Jaguars.
Good Success will now clash with Sans Souci in the final at the same venue.
The date for the game is yet to be confirmed by the Wakenaam Cricket Committee.
