Fogarty’s annual Santa parade yesterday which started from Pegasus and move straight to Fogarty’s in Water Street, saw tremendous response from various organisations especially schools which lined the streets with their colourful displays and outfits.
Santa came to the city not with a sled pulled by reindeer but in a new fangled Toyota Tundra. Children clamoured to get a glimpse and a photograph of Santa Claus.
Inside Fogarty’s the building was bursting at its seams with children hurrying their parents along to visit Santa Claus.
According to Marketing Supervisor, Sherry Alleyne, Fogarty’s Christmas parade comprised of schools, insurance companies, Beharry’s, Banks DIH, John Fernandes, and other organisations.
There were also special groups such as Salvation Army, the Scouts, Masquerade, the National School of dance, and President’s Youth Organisation.
There were trophies and cheques for schools with the largest contingents, the most organised school and the best decorated group.
Chits were also given away in the parade; persons can exchange the chit in return for a gift from Santa Claus who will be a daily feature in Fogarty’s for the month.
Ms Alleyne said that the U turn to Win promotion is active, offering a first prize of $1M, a second prize of $750,000 and third prize of $250,000, with every $3,000 spent.
The sums are redeemable by way of gift certificates which would be encashed at Fogarty’s. (Rabindra Rooplall)
