Banks DIH, Republic Bank, Neal and Massy and Digicel have thrown their support the Port Mourant Turf Club’s one day Pre Christmas horserace meet next Sunday December 13.
The sponsorship money has been upped to over $3M and can get even bigger as the organisers sort out a suitable package for the end of year activity, which will see patrons also being able to win big prizes.
Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited has upped the ante with a whopping sum of over $800,000 in cash and other incentives including the winning Banks DIH trophy in the Feature B class event. The Beverage giant has been leading the way with sponsorship for the King of Sports. The feature event carries a winning purse of $400,000 with the distance being just over a mile.
Republic Bank Guyana Limited is the sponsor of the co-feature Three Year old event for animals Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies.
The winner will run away with $250,000 and the Republic Bank trophy in the six and a half furlongs match up.
Neal and Massy Guyana limited has taken charge of the F class event, which will bear their seal, with the winner taking home $200,000 and the Neal and Massey trophy in another six furlong event.
The Two-year-old encounter is also for horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies. Digicel Guyana Limited has taken charged of sponsoring that race. The race is another six furlongs contest with $180,000 first prize and the Digicel trophy on offer.
The Port Mourant Turf club and Friends of the club will sponsor the next to events.
The ‘I’ class contest will see the winner taking away the $120,000 first prize in the seven furlong race and the ‘I’ 3 maidens 3-year-old open over six furlongs with a purse of $110,000 have been sponsored by the club and friends.
Ranauth Restaurant and Bar of Queens, New York has sponsored the division 2&3 race a first prize of $100,000 is another six furlong encounter.
Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall in Bourda Market will once again be donating the individual prizes, which will go to the champion jockey, champion trainer and champion stables among others.
So far most of the leading horses from the top stables have entered in what is expected to be a day of scorching races. Irish Gel, Great Memories, Tropical Passion, Jumbo Joy, Zionata, World Class, Mattarazzi, Casino Royal, Sweet Romance, Miss Republic, the Message, Night Crescendo, Delmur Gold, Lady of My Dreams, Peaceful, Vanessa, Alphabet and Face the Music, Top of the Line, Zip a Dee Do Dah, Laura lee In Flight, Miss Orient, Prixie Fire, Stylish Line, Gems Pride, The Gap, Sir Balajee, Miss Bounty, Little Spike, Stormy Water, Zebra, Star Streak, Beyonce, Clear Victory, Quincy, Lightning Mc Queen, Bounty Flyer, Miss Kimberly, Lenny, s O Halo, Sweetness are some of the racehorses on show.

The day’s activity will be conducted under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA). Race time is 13.00 hrs.
