Local telephone giant GT&T will sponsor this weekend’s Three-ball Scramble Golf tournament today at the Lusignan Golf Course on the East Coast of Demerara.
Dr. Ram Singh, Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) vice captain, who is coordinating the tournament, said that players will compete in groups of three in what is expected to be a competition of fun. As usual the tournament is expected to attract a large field as the local golf season is drawing to a close.
According to Dr. Ram Singh, there will be medal play type scoring with the player with the best gross being declared the winner.
This is the first major tournament since the Guyana Open and among the players that are listed to take part are Colin Ming, Patrick Prashad, Mike Guyadin, Alfred Mentore, Bolaram Deo, Ronald Bulkan, Mel Sankies, Maurice Solomon, William Walker, Lester Alvis, Ian Gouveia, Christine Sukhram, Gavin Todd, Joann Deo, Clifford Reis, Mark Lashley, Imran Khan, Mike Mangal, Chatterpaul Deo, Mohanlall Dinanauth, Melissa Humphrey, Carlos Adams, Andre Cummings, Kasim Khan, Roy Cummings, Munnaf Arjune, Brian Hackett and Francois Montour.
Tee off is at 12:15 hours.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers as well as Nearest to the Pin and representatives of GT&T have been invited to assist in the presentation of prizes.
GT&T is a regular sponsor of golf locally, last year the telecommunication company sponsored a Father’s Day tournament which was won by Melissa Humphrey.
