The F&H Printing Establishment sponsored Muslim Youth Organization (MYO) of Guyana 10 overs Inter-Jamaat softball round-robin round-hand cricket competition continued last Sunday at the MYO ground, Woolford Avenue and the National Park.
The following are the results from the matches played:
MYO v Providence
MYO batted first and made 152-4 in their allotted 10 overs. Zulfikar Ali stroked 58 and Richard Latiff 35. Roy Mohammed picked up 2-18 for Providence who were bundled out for 102 in reply. Mohammed returned with the bat to top score with 40 in a losing effort, Azo Haniff contributed 23. The main destroyer with the ball for MYO was Kenny Dindyal with 5-6 from 2 overs with admirable support from Richard Latiff 4-11.
Land of Canaan v Providence
Providence batting first managed to reach 110-7 from their 10 overs. Mansoor Khan led with 29 and Roy Mohammed 25. Martin Dookie and Mohammed Feroze picked up two wickets each for Land of Canaan who were limited to 90-9 in response. Elton John’s game top score of 40 and Shazam Ali’s 15 could not take their side to victory. Shairaz Mohammed and Mansoor Khan shared four wickets evenly for Providence.
Queenstown v Triumph Queenstown posted 108-6 batting first; Majeed Khan slamming 68 and Rickey Sergeant 46. Abzal Fazal picked up 3-24 with one wicket each for Hassan Bacchus and Asif Ali. Triumph knocked off the required runs without losing a wicket ending on 109. Hassan Bacchus 60 and Akram Bacchus 27 secured victory.
Farm A v Farm C
Farm A lashed their way to an imposing 167-3 off their 10 overs with Leon Marks slamming an unbeaten 121 and Vivian Bissoon 20. Erickie Thomas took 2-26 for Farm C who skittled out for 85 in 9.1 overs. The only batsmen offering some resistance with the bat were Budhan Baksh and Ricky Sergeant with 25 each.
Wrecking havoc with the ball for Farm A were Patrick Khan 4-12 and Sherwin Porch 3-15.
Farm A v Mon Repos
Farm A 163-3, Vivian Bissoon made 91* and Leon Marks 58. Mon Repos were restricted to 131-1 when the overs ran out. Azam Bacchus 44 and Akram Bacchus 28 were the top scorers. John Singh 3-23 and Sherwin Porch 2-17 led the bowling for the winners.
In other results, New Mosque gained a walk over form Lusignan. Also chalking up wins via the walk over route were Windsor Forest over Wales and Mon Repos from Wales. Farm C got the better of Windsor Forest in their encounter.
