The Young Guns Sports Club (YGSC) will stage a 6 a-side, 5 overs softball cricket competition at the Hope West Primary School Ground this Sunday, December 6 and the winner carts off a sheep donated by President of the YGSC and organizer of the tournament, Anand Persaud.
Last weekend a similar tournament was staged and the Foulis team carted off the animal. However, in keeping with the true spirit of the game, that team has decided to re-stake the animal in this tournament. However, a spokesman for the organizers revealed that this arrangement would not be repeated. “Whosoever wins the sheep will cook it this time around,” he assures.
Over ten teams will vie for a chance to partake of the meat at stake and the organizers have promised excitement at the matches. Last week’s matches were also laden with excitement and similar excitement is envisaged this weekend.
To date ten teams have signed up for the tournament and organizers are anticipating quite a few others. Teams desirous of participating are advised to contact Anand Persaud (256-3686 or 677-9739), Rehaz (660-4008) or Ejaz (619-1263). The action bowls off at 10:30hrs sharp.
