The main escort car for President Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday turned turtle on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway after experiencing a “blow out.”
President Bharrat Jagdeo was travelling behind the car that crashed.
At the time of the accident the president was heading to Linden for the commissioning of the new Linden Hospital.
Kaieteur News understands that the driver and two other security guards sustained serious injuries, none of which were considered life-threatening. They were all taken to the same hospital that the President commissioned.
Media operatives who were covering the commissioning of the hospital were barred from entering the hospital to get accurate reports on the condition of the injured members of the presidential Guards.
This is the second accident involving the presidential escort team.
Last month another car was written off after a pickup truck rammed into its side as it turned off the Rupert Craig Highway into Sheriff Street.
