Businesses across the Caribbean are being urged to embrace the novel option of giving the ‘Gift of Cricket for Christmas’ by purchasing tickets for next year’s ICC World Twenty20 tournament for staff and clients.
ICC World Twenty20 West Indies 2010 is extending a special corporate offer to companies which are interested in buying tickets in bulk for the April 30 – May 16 event which will be staged in Barbados, Guyana, St. Kitts and Saint Lucia.
“This OTB (option to buy) is designed for businesses which may want to purchase large numbers of tickets for their employees and/or clientele. In the current economic climate, we think the ‘Gift of Cricket for Christmas’ is an affordable alternative to the traditional gifts and bonuses that companies usually give during the Yuletide season,” noted ICC WT20 West Indies 2010 Project Officer – Ticketing, Ms. Carla Henry-Baker.
“It’s an opportunity for employers to show goodwill to their staff and to those who have patronised their businesses during 2009 but without the high level of expense which they would normally experience. West Indians love their cricket and we’re sure many would be thrilled by such a gesture from their employer.
“Some companies have already been taking advantage of this offer and we’re publicising it across the region because we anticipate others will be eager to do likewise. Indeed, it is an option that’s open to corporate entities worldwide and we’ll be happy to accept orders from beyond the Caribbean.”
Ms. Henry-Baker explained that the ‘Gift of Cricket for Christmas’ programme allows companies to purchase tickets to any ICC WT20 West Indies 2010 matches in amounts exceeding the existing limit (4 tickets per household per match) and subject to the following conditions:
1. The minimum number of tickets that can be purchased is five (5) per match day
2. You agree abide by the Ticket Terms and Conditions
3. Payment should be made at the nearest Ticket Centre or by wire transfer upon receipt of an invoice from ICC WT20 West Indies 2010
4. All ticket requests will be handled on a ‘first come, first served’ basis
5. All ticket sales are final
6. Tickets will be available for collection by courier or at the nearest Ticket Centre in April 2010
Umbrella business organisations throughout the region are being approached by ICC WT20 West Indies 2010 to inform their memberships of this initiative and to outline how interested companies can avail themselves of it.
Ms. Henry-Baker also disclosed that plans are in progress to introduce a similar option for schools.
