A 20-year-old woman is in police custody after her full term baby died after it fell into a pit latrine during its birth.
The mother who hails from Bush Lot Village, Essequibo Coast, had reportedly given birth early Thursday morning at her residence.
The police who were alerted to the incident rushed to the scene and extracted the baby who was subsequently rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital where it was pronounced dead on arrival.
