Wayne Osborne blasted a fine century as Sans Souci defeated Zeelandia by 70 urns in the first semi-final of the Busta 40 overs cricket competition played on Sunday at the Wakenaam Community centre ground in Good Success.
Osborne smashed eleven sizes and three fours in scoring 102 as his team, who won the toss and batted first in front of a fair size crowd, made 225 – 4 after the game was reduced to 32 overs due to a late start.
Jaggernauth Manbodh supported Osborne with an even fifty which included five fours and two sixes. Heera Sukhram and Oyono Sampson also chipped in with 35 each as Nandcoomar Boodram took 2-27. Zeelandia in reply scored 185 all out in 29.3 overs. Skipper Navishaul Pooran top scored with 32 while Dharmendra Pooran made 27. Faheem Azweem was Sans Souci’s leading wicket taker with 4-20 while Vickram Ramnarine grabbed 2-25.
Sans Souci will now clash with either Good Success or Sans Souci Jaguars who will battle for a place in the final tomorrow at the same venue.
