Commonwealth Heads of Government Conference affects Pro League schedule
General Secretary of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Noel Adonis has informed the media that leading Trinidad and Tobago Pro League side Joe Public will not be in Guyana as was anticipated for the closing of the inaugural GFF National Super League sponsored by FIFA under the Win in CONCACAF with CONCACAF Project.
Joe Public was scheduled to play the National Under-20 team on Sunday (tomorrow) but due to the current Commonwealth Heads of Government Conference being hosted in the Twin Island Republic (Nov. 27 – 29), the Pro League matches were rescheduled as a direct consequence as well as for security related reasons.
With the rescheduling of Pro League games, Joe Public was scheduled to play yesterday (Friday) and again on Monday November 30th, 2009, making it impossible for them to be in Guyana to play the Under-20’s tomorrow.
Arrangements have now been made for the Guyana Under-20 team to play against a select “Super League Rest” team at 15:00hrs, the third place play off of the GFF National Super League between Sunburst Camptown and Milerock will now be played at 17.00hrs and the grand finale between the Guyana Defence Force and Alpha United at 19.15hrs tomorrow at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
The GFF said it apologises for any inconvenience caused.
