Rose Hall Town Bakewell defeated Rising Star in their final Zone ‘E’ preliminary round match of the 2009 Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Under-17 Cricket Competition in Berbice to end as runners-up to Albion in that Zone and advance to the quarter-finals.
Spearheading them to victory were their two Under-15 Inter-county bowlers, off spinner Loydel Lewis and leg spinner Shawn Perreira who had match hauls of 9-42 and 8-28 respectively and batsman Kellon Sinclair and Lionel Lewis who scored half centuries each.
Diadat Singh’s unbeaten 124 for Blairmont Community Centre helped them inflict an innings and 161 run victory on Bath Aditya.
Devendra Jainabi’s 88 and good bowling from leg-spinner Totaram Deonarine who took 6-28 and 2-32 helped Seawell take first innings points from Young Hustlers of Canefield whose off spinner Latchman Ramoutar took 7-17 from 6 overs in Seawell’s only innings.

Rising Star 1st innings 71 with Abdul Rafiek 46, Shawn Perreira 4-17, Loyddel Lewis 3-29 and 2nd innings 70 – Loydel Lewis 6-33, Shawn Perreira 4-11. RHT Bakewell 1st innings 185-5 dec. – Lionel Lewis 68, Kellon Sinclair 64.
At Blairmont, Blairmont Community Centre beat bath Aditya by an innings and 161 runs. Bath Aditya 1st innings 59 with Wazir Subhan 3-5 and 2nd innings 49, David Crawford 3-16. Blairmont Community Centre 1st innings 269-1 dec. – Diadat Singh 124 not out, David Crawford 57 not out, Wazir Subhan 35.
At Rose Hall Canje, Seawell took first innings points from Young Hustlers in their drawn match. Young Hustlers 1st innings 67 with Denswrick Griffith 25, Totaram Deonarine 6-29, Devendra Jainabi 3-15 and 2nd innings 112 with Alex Reis 38, Vishal Persaud 3-20, Puranjet Ramoutar 2-9, Totaram Deonarine 2-32. Seawell 1st innings 189 – Devendra Jainabi 88, Rohan Hemchandraji 30, Vishal Persaud 28, Latchman Ramoutar 7-17, Prakash Rambarran 2-46.
