Aiming to upgrade facilities with proceeds
Acting President of the Fruta Conquerors Football Club (FCFC) Ivor Thompson is expressing gratitude to the National Milling Company of Guyana (NAMILCO), the participating clubs, officials and all who contributed to the successful staging of the 3rd annual fund raising tournament held at the Tucville ground.
Thompson, in an invited comment stated that apart from the unfortunate stabbing incident, the tournament came off well and the club is appreciative of the support also from the fans.
With regard to the further development of the club, Thompson said they are aiming to upgrade the field by the end of this year, apart from the club house and lecture hall.
“We intend to purchase more equipment which will include goal nets, balls and cones among other necessary items to further enhance and develop the club.”
Thompson also said that the club in an effort to improve security at the facility will be erecting an inner fence to separate spectators from the on field action. The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) and NAMILCO are expected to chip in to make this a reality.
Fruta Conquerors FC have been doing well at the junior level but has not been able to maintain a high ranking in the senior ranks as they did in the past. To arrest this situation and return the club to the top flight in the city, Thompson disclosed that they will be employing the services of a Technical Director.
Among the immediate priorities of the Technical Director will be to train four coaches attached to the club. They are Lester Peters, Wayne St. Jules, Jevon Rodrigues and Elroy Parks.
